CU Boulder & NREL Offer The Business of Sustainable Energy Program

The Business of Sustainable Energy (BSE) program is designed specifically for the executives and entrepreneurs building a clean energy future. In partnership with the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), the nation’s only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, BSE will educate participants on how to apply realworld tools to run a successful business in the sustainable energy sector, as well as the theory underlying the tools.


The course is a practicum that will educate participants on how to apply real-world tools to run a successful business in the sustainable energy sector, as well as the theory underlying the tools. Participants will develop the skills necessary to construct detailed business plans and financial models.



Who Should Register?

  • Purpose-Driven Professionals - We prepare energy entrepreneurs to confidently and competently tackle the ongoing climate crisis.

  • Executives and Leaders - The BSE program is exclusively designed for executives, managers, directors, entrepreneurs and investors pioneering sustainability efforts.

  • Next-Generation Energy Entrepreneurs - Develop the skills necessary to construct detailed business plans and financial models to run a successful business in the sustainable energy sector.


In a pairing of Leeds/NREL faculty with practitioners, lectures will also provide learnings in risk management, energy market dynamics, commercial market analyses, financial structuring, and the core engineering and risks inherent in the most common sustainable energy technologies.
